Rachel has reacted in disbelief at figures she has uncovered showing that in 2022-23 Conservative-controlled North Warwickshire Borough Council issued just one fixed penalty notice for fly-tipping.

The figures – the most recent available – put North Warwickshire as one of the worst-performing councils for fly-tipping in the country.

Rachel said the figures showed fly-tippers have never had it so good in North Warwickshire, and were acting with almost total impunity.

She said:

It’s little wonder fly-tippers travel from far and wide to dump their waste on my constituent’s land, given the virtual impunity these criminals enjoy from soft touch North Warwickshire Borough Council.

These shocking figures shows that fly tippers have never had it so good in North Warwickshire.

Between April 2022 and March 2023, the council recorded nearly a thousand incidents of fly-tipping, so it beggars belief that just a single fixed penalty notice was issued by the council as a result.

The consequence of that dismal inaction is the selfish fly-tippers get off scot free, while my constituents are left to clean up the mess themselves.

Rachel raised the issue in parliament last week and called for action from the council, with the Minister responding to offer to work with the Council to improve things for residents.
