Rachel has signed a letter organised by former coalfield MPs calling for more action from the government to tackle the injustices experienced by former mineworkers. In the letter, the MPs say:
We were heartened by the action taken by the new Labour Government in the first budget to begin addressing the historic injustice of the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme (MPS), as well as by the allocation of funding for coal tip safety in Wales. However, there is further work to be done, and we would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to put forward the case for further progress on the Mineworkers Pension Scheme (MPS), the British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme (BCSSS), and support for the Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT).
