I am delighted to support the launch of applications for the Nuneaton & Bedworth Sports Forum Sports Awards 2026 and Junior Sports Scholarships 2027, which celebrate sporting achievement and recognise the volunteers, coaches, officials and community champions who help local sport thrive.
This year, I am particularly pleased that the awards include the Rachel Taylor MP Award, which recognises the invaluable contribution made by qualified officials, including referees, judges and others who give their time to support local clubs and leagues.
The awards recognise excellence across a wide range of categories, while the scholarship programme provides financial support to talented young athletes in the borough, including grants of up to £200 for achievement scholarships and up to £100 for development scholarships.
Applications and nominations close on Monday 7 December 2026 and should be submitted to nbsfawards@gmail.com.
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 26 February 2027 at Nuneaton Rugby Club.
Too often, the people working behind the scenes to keep local sport running do not receive the recognition they deserve. These awards are an opportunity to celebrate not only sporting success, but also the volunteers and officials whose commitment makes that success possible.
