Rachel has held a public meeting on the proposed Grand Union Canal Transfer scheme at Outwoods School in Atherstone, where residents raised concerns are traffic disruption and the impact on the canal with officials from Severn Trent and Affinity Water.
Speaking after the meeting, Rachel said:
“Thank you to everyone who came to my Grand Union Canal Transfer meeting in Atherstone last week, and to everyone who took part in the consultation. It was a great turnout and really important that the Water Companies heard first hand from you. This major infrastructure project could have a huge impact on North Warwickshire and Bedworth. Although this stage of the consultation is over I will continue to get answers to your questions and push Ministers, and Water Companies to deliver the best deal for residents. I have yet to make my mind up about this scheme, and will not support it if I do not feel compensation levels and disruption management plans are adequate. Please get in touch if you have any questions, concerns or ideas for projects that could compensate the area.”
