Rachel Taylor MP speaking in Parliament
Rachel has welcomed the announcement of a new North Warwickshire unitary authority.
“I am delighted that the Government has decided Warwickshire will be served by two councils that deliver all services to residents. North Warwickshire and Nuneaton & Bedworth join Rugby in a new North Warwickshire Council.
“This is something I have strongly campaigned for because it means power and decision-making closer to home. Residents in the north deserve a council that understands our communities.
“The new North Warwickshire authority will bring together everything from housing and waste collection to social care, transport and skills under one locally focused council.
“For too long, residents in the north have not received the focus they deserve from Warwick. A North Warwickshire authority will provide a stronger local voice, and ensure local priorities shape local decisions.
I believe this is a hugely positive step forward for our area, and I will share further information on what this means for residents as the process develops. The first set of elections for the new Council will take place as planned in May 2027.”
