Rachel has responded to Warwickshire County Council Leader George Finch calling her a “glorified caseworker” for reporting a dangerous pothole that has put two pensioners in hospital.
“If Cllr Finch wants to insult me as a ‘glorified caseworker’, that’s a badge I will wear with pride. I’ve secured tens of millions of pounds of new investment in Bedworth. He can’t even patch up a dangerous pothole that has put two pensioners in hospital.
“My record standing up for North Warwickshire and Bedworth is clear. Through many hours of backroom discussions and lobbying in Westminster I secured hard-won concessions on both the winter fuel payment and farmers inheritance tax. And I was outspoken about my views on Keir Starmer and the Mandelson scandal, including being one of the first Labour MPs to call for a change of leadership.
“In contrast, to my knowledge George Finch has never publicly questioned Nigel Farage on any issue whatsoever, including when it comes to the avalanche of sleaze, dodgy deals, and the £5m secret ‘gift’ his leader is being investigated over.
“His priority might be climbing the greasy ladder up to Nigel Farage’s golden throne, but mine is standing up for residents and driving real change in North Warwickshire and Bedworth – one pothole at a time if necessary.”
