Rachel has welcomed the announcement by the government that they plan to proceed with the existing local government reorganisation plans for Warwickshire, by replacing the current six councils with two unitary authorities – North Warwickshire and South Warwickshire.
In a statement she said:
“I strongly welcome the government’s announcement that they intend to proceed with plans for two unitary councils in Warwickshire, something I have continued to make the case for.
“Communities in North Warwickshire have been repeatedly let down by the current complicated council structure, with too much power hoarded in the south of the county. A single unitary council for North Warwickshire is the best option for handing more power to my constituents and ensuring there is proper accountability for the decisions made on their behalf in our area.”
